Guess who's got her first REAL cold...

She's been a bit cranky lately, and excusably so.

This is the year!

Well, as we're sure you all know, the Chicago Cubs regular season home opener is only 4 days, 20 hours, 25 minutes, and 16 seconds away. Waveland has been talking non stop about this season! She's thrilled about the Cubs acquisition of outfielder Fukudome, the recently resolved pitching battle for the starting positions, and the idea of Kerry Wood staying healthy in a closer spot. I've tried to tell her not to get her hopes up, but she's convinced that this is the year!

She wanted to model her Cubs outfit for everyone, and who are we to refuse! We asked her how she would feel if the Cubs didn't win the World Series this year, and this was her response...
"And what if the Cubs win it all!?!"
When she was born, we promised to take her to at least one game at Wrigley Field each year, so we'll be traveling back to Chicago in May to take our seats at Wrigley Field and cheer the Cubs to a victory!

Saint Patrick's Day Parade

Thanks to our good friends Jason and Jane Fish, we were invited to walk in Denver's St Patrick's Day parade. This thing is a big deal! It's the 3rd largest St Patty's Day parade in the US, and the 4th largest parade in the world! Plus, it was a great honor for Rochelle, since her Great-Great Grandfather Patty O'Furniture was a first generation immigrant. Well, that's not true, but we were still pretty excited!

Well, Waveland took a bit to get excited...

It was sponsored by Bellco Credit Union, and Jason is the Market Director (or something like that) for them, so we were invited into the VIP tent and everything!

The parade was over 2 miles long, and took over 4 hours! Luckily, we had a beautiful day and everyone had a great time!

Even Waveland, in her warm snuggly bear suit, ended up having a great time. She was the hit of the parade and got lots of people to wave at her and comment on her outfit. She's already counting the days until next year!

Waveland and Lenora

Well, Waveland and her cousin Lenora got to chat a bit the other day. They were missing each other, and so Lenora called Waveland just to see how things were going. They talked about potty training and flipping upside down, and Lenora gave Waveland some advice about solid foods. It was a great time for both of them...just some "cousin time" with the parents bugging them!

Here they are, just a-chattin' away!

Waveland really wanted to give Lenora a hug!

And then, too soon for them both, it was time to go. Lenora and Uncle Jonah waved goodbye... ...but Waveland wasn't as inclined to end the conversation. Here, she tells her Mommy that she's not ready!

Thanks for the call, Lenora! We loved hearing from you, and Waveland really misses you! Call us again soon!

A singer like Billie Holiday

Well, we missed church this morning. Something about "daylight savings time" or something....

Anyway, since we have some time this morning, we thought we'd post some video of Waveland singing a couple of Billie Holiday tunes. Billie Holiday was an extremely influential jazz singer in the late 30s-early 40s, and, though she met an untimely death in 1959, she appears to have gained her newest fan in Waveland.
